FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You have a question? We have an answer.

Do I need a follow up appointment after surgery?

Yes. The surgical coordinator will give you a form with all required post-operative appointments that are scheduled.

How do I use drops post-cataract surgery?

You will receive postoperative eye drops as well as instructions on how to use at the surgery center on the day of surgery. Please follow these instructions and call our office if you have any questions!

What should I expect post-cataract surgery?

After surgery, your vision will seem slightly different. You may experience tilted, distorted or blurry vision, light sensitivity, and the inability to move your eye or open your lid. These symptoms should last no longer than 6 hours. Redness is also not unusual. If you are having concerns, feel free to reach out to our office with any questions. You will have a 1 day, 1 week and 1 month appointment following your surgery.

What should I expect post-eyelid (blepharoplasty) surgery?

After surgery, you will be bandaged with half moon bandages and ointment in your eyes. You should ice over the bandages on and off every 20 minutes until you go to sleep. Keep the bandages dry. You will be blurry. The next morning you can remove the bandages leaving the clear plastic tape and blue sutures in place. Use ointment on incision sites twice a day and in your eyes at night. (If you had your lower lids done, you will need a 1 day post-operative appointment and your bandages will be removed.) You will then be seen at your 1 week appointment and your sutures will be removed. Call our office if you experience any excessive bleeding or severe pain.

What kind of insurance do you take?

I was diagnosed with Grave’s Disease 35 years ago, which has progressed to also having Thyroid Eye Disease. In addition to thyroid issues, this condition brings a host of symptoms like exophthalmos (bulging eyes) where my lids can’t close properly causing severe dryness, double vision, red swollen itchy, watery, eyes along with compromised vision. I’ve have used so many eye drops and ointments over the years to manage this condition. These symptoms can be frustrating and can cause issues trying to focus on tasks at work and at home. Dr. Lopasic recommended I try a newer treatment for TED which is an infusion called Tepezza which has promising results targeting bulging, double vision, and all the other eye symptoms. I decided to receive the treatment and am overjoyed with the results.
